At Lam, as an EH&S Engineer, you're instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental safety programs and policies. Ensuring compliance with regulations, you'll perform safety inspections, conduct trainings, and oversee hazardous waste vendors and processes. Your expertise spans to life safety, workplace ergonomics, and monitoring industrial health compliance. Acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies you'll not only stay current but also reinforce Lam's commitment to safety and environmental compliance.

What you’ll do

This role in the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team is responsible for primary Safety Program Owner for KTC. The position is responsible for developing, governing, and continuously advancing KTC’s safety programs, compliance architecture, SAPA system, incident‑management governance, and emergency preparedness.

This role requires strong leadership capabilities, including influencing across multiple functions, driving accountability, and enabling consistent execution across teams. The role also demands excellent collaboration and working‑together skills, partnering deeply with Lab Ops, Facilities/Projects, GWS, R&D, Global EHS, and KTC leadership to ensure aligned, high‑maturity safety performance.

- Serve as the primary Safety Program Owner for KTC, leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs (CoHE/LOTO, high‑risk work controls, PTW governance, risk assessment, gas & chemical safety, safe‑work practices).
- Ensure regulatory and corporate compliance by maintaining alignment with KOSHA and Lam Global EHS standards; develop audit‑ready documentation and support internal/external assessments.
- Own the full SAPA (Serious Accidents Punishment Act) lifecycle, including intake, prioritization, assignment, tracking, closure verification, and effectiveness validation; develop SAPA dashboards for leadership.
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring high‑quality RCA, comprehensive CAPA development, and cross‑team learning through structured leadership debriefs.
- Provide strong leadership and influence across Lab Ops, R&D, Facilities/Projects, GWS, and other functions to ensure unified safety expectations, high accountability, and consistent program execution.
- Demonstrate strong working‑together and collaboration skills by building effective partnerships, facilitating alignment across teams, and helping resolve cross‑functional conflicts constructively.
- Participate actively in SL reviews, CRF (Chemical Request Form) assessments for safety implications, and eMOC (electronic Management of Change) reviews to ensure preventive controls are applied early.
- Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) including development of ERT training, drills, crisis coordination, after‑action reviews, and continuous improvement of emergency procedures.
- Drive a proactive, engaged safety culture through leadership visibility, coaching, campaigns, communications, and field presence.
- Ensure safety integration into new equipment, process changes, and facility modifications by participating in design reviews, startup risk reviews, and safety sign‑offs.
- Monitor trends, regulatory changes, incidents, inspection results, and SAPA insights to identify systemic gaps and drive long‑term program improvements.
- Develop and manage EHS performance KPIs for KTC, ensuring metrics, targets, trend analysis, and leadership reporting are integrated into continuous improvement and governance processes.

Who we’re looking for

- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- 8–12+ years of EHS experience with strong experience in safety program development and governance.
- Demonstrated experience in incident investigation, RCA/CAPA, SAPA processes, compliance management, and PTW/high‑risk work programs.
- Proven leadership ability: influencing without authority, driving alignment, managing conflicts constructively, and elevating team execution standards.
- Strong working‑together skills: able to build trust, collaborate cross‑functionally, and navigate complex stakeholder networks effectively.
- Fluent in Korean and English (written and verbal).
- Strong leadership capability: able to influence across functions, drive accountability, guide teams through ambiguity, and set high performance expectations.
- Excellent working‑together and collaboration skills: builds strong relationships, aligns diverse teams, communicates clearly, and resolves conflicts constructively.
- Advanced incident investigation & RCA skills: capable of leading incident investigations with structured methodologies and high‑quality documentation. (5 why & 8D)
- Compliance & governance expertise: strong understanding of SAPA, KOSHA, safety regulatory requirements, and corporate-level EHS systems.
- Risk assessment & hazard control skills: strong knowledge of PTW, high‑risk work controls, CoHE/LOTO, and preventive safety engineering.
- Emergency response leadership: skilled in ERT coordination, drills, emergency scenario planning, and response communication.
- Change management & integration skills: ability to evaluate safety impact in SL, chemical review, and eMOC processes.
- Strong written & verbal communication (Korean and English): capable of producing clear procedures, reports, training materials, and leadership briefings.
- Analytical & problem‑solving capability: able to interpret trends, identify root patterns, and drive meaningful program improvements.

Preferred qualifications

- 산업안전기사 (Industrial Safety Engineer) or Environment & Fire & Gas & chemical related certification.
- Experience in semiconductor, R&D, or gas & chemical industry.
- Experience leading or supporting SAPA (Serious Accidents Punishment Act) compliance programs, including documentation, risk evaluation, and leadership reporting.
- Experience in HAZOP, External impact assessment for gas & chemical
- Experience with SAPA, Emergency Response, chemical review, MOC, and safety governance processes.
- Understanding of ISO45001 or corporate-level EHS management systems.
