The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

 

Position Summary

SW Product Support Engineer 4

The PS Software Engineer is responsible for providing advanced regional software support for Lam Research semiconductor equipment. This role acts as the primary escalation owner for complex software issues, supports software upgrades and validations, and serves as a key interface between customers, field teams, and global software product groups. The PS SW Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring software quality, system stability, and successful customer operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary regional escalation owner for software-related issues, driving timely resolution and prevention.

• Support software installation, patching, and version upgrades, including risk assessment and customer alignment.

• Perform software simulation and validation prior to field deployment to minimize operational risk.

• Analyze and troubleshoot software event logs, alarm logs, and debug data to identify root causes.

• Support First-in-Fab (FIF), First-in-Region (FIR), and new software introductions.

• Act as a Product Group (PG) extension in the region, providing structured field feedback.

• Collaborate with Field Service, AT, and customers on recipe, wafer flow, and process-related software issues.

• Support customer-facing initiatives such as JDP, TRM, and software capability alignment.

• Ensure compliance with Lam software governance, documentation, and escalation processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

• Experience supporting complex software systems in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environments.

• Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in software troubleshooting and log analysis.

• Ability to work cross-functionally with global engineering and customer teams.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with semiconductor equipment software (Etch, Deposition, Clean, etc.).

• Familiarity with software simulation, validation, and controlled release processes.

• Customer-facing technical support or escalation management experience.
