The Global Operations Group brings information systems, facilities, supply chain, logistics, and high-volume manufacturing together to drive the engine of our global business operations. We help Lam deliver industry-leading solutions with speed and efficiency, while actively supporting the resilient and profitable growth of Lam's business. The Global Workplace Solutions group manages a worldwide portfolio of real estate and facilities of nearly two million square feet in the San Francisco Bay Area, one million square feet in Oregon, and potentially adding facilities in Asia in the next two years. Ensuring that all sites operate smoothly without disruption, this group also provides lab services such as gas and chemical delivery, tool installation projects, and cleanroom garments. This group is responsible for conducting all construction and site improvement work to ensure that all work complies with global and local regulatory requirements. This group also provides engineering work to support infrastructure maintenance and construction.

 

The impact you’ll make

The Engineering function is responsible for all engineering activities within a firm to ensure that business objectives are met. Includes the creation, development, design and improvement of products, equipment, facilities, services, standards and procedures in all engineering fields. The Industrial Design area is responsible for creating and developing design concepts and specifications that optimize the function, ergonomics, perceived value and appearance of products. This key position will lead a team to not only achieve these objectives but will also benchmark and measure key performance indicators to pursue progressive improvements, both in service and spending improvement to an annual budget of about $100M in operations and rental expenses.This position works closely with the Real Estate and Space Planning leadership team to support sound decision making with qualitative and quantitative analysis. Examples include analyses such as financial and qualitative analysis to inform our real estate strategy at a regional and global level, considering factors such as real estate supply, potential headcount growth scenarios, potential new office openings, manufacturing needs. Analyses around leasing vs. buying, subleasing, usage of short-term space vs. long-term leases, and cost of tenant improvements. Continuous improvement of the office, manufacturing, R&D, and warehouse spaces will help improve the efficiency and quality of our workspace, that will improve the productivity of our employees, and that will help attract and retain highly talented employees.

What you’ll do

Major roles and responsibilities

Responsible for KTC and Y campus office electrical infrastructure systems

Core electrical systems of responsibility include, but not limited to:

               Medium voltage systems (22.9kV distribution)

               Low voltage systems (480V/208V distribution, UPS, Emergency Generator/ATS)

  • Design, develop, modify Electrical hardware systems
  • Selects OEM components and materials for power distribution box/control panel design
  • Creates and releases engineering drawings & bill of materials using engineering change management process
  • Creates electrical schematics and system based on requirements
  • Conducts and drives design review for new concepts
  • Assists with development, and refinement of functional specifications for electrical systems and power distribution
  • Works with multidisciplinary engineering design teams to design and modify custom and OEM system components
  • Manage and cooperate with OSP
  • Provide electrical engineering design review input and approval for facility infrastructure and process tool installation projects
  • Provide electrical engineering construction input and commissioning support for facility infrastructure projects
  • Review short circuit coordination and arc flash studies and provide input to improve system coordination and reliability
  • Support as-build documentation of electrical system and single line diagrams
  • Maintain load/capacity reports for facility infrastructure systems and forecast load growth
  • Drive improvement of electrical infrastructure to increase system reliability and up time
  • Experience with standard operating procedure creation and training skills
  • Experience with energy efficiency improvement projects
  • Work directly with contractors and service providers to ensure delivery of operational results
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis during project design development phase
  • Capital and expense project financial management and control experience

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering or similar and a minimum of +3 years of related experience
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Familiar with KEC and IEC standards
  • Experience working with KEPCO and KESCO
  • Highly proficient in power panel electrical circuit design with safety interlocks & 3 phase load analysis
  • Good working knowledge in PCB/ Low voltage circuit design for power and control applications
  • Expert in application of power and controls technologies for systems automation
  • Understanding of AC/DC Power distribution systems required
  • Experience working with insurance provider (FM Global) to ensure reliable facility operation
  • Familiarity using power modeling software, especially ETAP
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70/NEC code requirements and NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements
  • Experience creating equipment maintenance programs to align with NFPA 70B and NETA requirements

Preferred qualifications

  • Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.1 
  • Prior experience with MS office tools (ppt, excel, project)
  • Previous experience leading technical projects
  • Strong project management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skill
  • Effectively read, write, and communicate with others in English
  • Comfortable with travelling
  • Experience with capital equipment, Electrical control/Power box or similar (for e.g., process industries, aircraft, etc.) industry in a sub-system / module design project
  • Experience in selection of components, setting up equipment for experimentation / testing in laboratory environment, setting up safe practices
  • Experience of power distribution and/or control system design of complex systems
  • The certification requirement is for Electrical License
