The impact you’ll make

Performs staff support activities to develop, implement and administer compensation policies and programs. Audits jobs for content and prepares job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities, activities, duties and requirements. Develops and/or participates in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine company's competitive position. Reviews proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policies and practices. Recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems. Reviews requests for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignment. Formulates recommendations regarding development of company salary structure, FLSA exemptions, job revisions and organizational structures. Reviews existing and proposed statutory requirements governing compensation administration and recommends appropriate courses of action. May prepare special studies and recommendations on subjects such as incentive compensation, bonus plans, sales compensation or stock options. May include administration of domestic and/or international programs.

Job Summary
The Compensation & Benefits Analyst will support the design, administration, and continuous improvement of compensation and benefits programs in Japan. This role will work closely with the Compensation & Benefits Manager to ensure strong operational execution, compliance with local labor laws, and alignment with global reward principles.
The position is ideal for an HR professional with solid foundational experience in compensation and benefits who is ready to deepen expertise and grow into a broader regional or strategic role over time.

Key Responsibilities
Compensation
•Support annual compensation processes including salary review, bonus decision, and related communications
•Assist in benchmarking exercises
•Prepare reports and materials for internal stakeholders and global HR partners

Payroll & Compliance
•Review monthly payroll data and support payroll approval processes
•Coordinate year-end tax adjustment processes including employee communications and review of results
•Ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws and internal HR policies
•Support audits, internal controls, and HR governance activities where needed

Benefits
•Administer Japan benefits programs (social insurances, retirement, group insurances, wellness-related programs, etc.)
•Coordinate with external vendors (payroll, social insurance, benefit providers) to ensure smooth operations
•Support benefit program reviews and enhancements in collaboration with the C&B Manager
Stakeholder Collaboration
•Partner with HRBP and HR Shared Services on day-to-day employee inquiries related to compensation and benefits
•Support Talent Acquisition by providing compensation and benefits related inputs for offers and internal moves
•Act as a reliable point of contact for employees on C&B related topics

Projects & Continuous Improvement
•Contribute to process standardization, documentation and improvement
•Support global or regional C&B initiatives and/or projects as required

Qualification
•3–5 years of experience in HR or a related back-office function (e.g., General Affairs, Finance, Accounting), involving handling large volumes of data and employee or internal client communications• Exposure to payroll operations, social insurance, or benefits administration in Japan is preferred
•Prior experience in HR, particularly in Compensation & Benefits, is a plus but not required
•Experience working in a multinational or matrix organization is desirable

Technical Skills
•Fundamental understanding of Japanese labor law related to compensation and benefits are preferred
•Proficiency in Excel and HR data handling
•Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
•Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems is desirable

Language Skills
•Japanese: Native or fluent
•English: Business-level (reading, writing, and basic discussion with global stakeholders)

•Experience supporting annual compensation cycles or global reward programs
•Prior exposure to job grading or market benchmarking tools
•Experience working with external vendors and consultants

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
