The impact you’ll make

Join Lam as a Systems Engineer and you'll be at the forefront, designing and developing solutions for advanced semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment. You will define system specifications, requirements, parameters, and compatibility to integrate hardware, software, and firmware into a cohesive system.  You will help design and analyze equipment, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results to create reliable cutting-edge solutions.

In this role, you will directly contribute to the design and development of the next generation Lam Wet Deposition products. You will be part of the future direction of the semiconductor industry.

What you’ll do

  • Operate as project owner leading multidisciplinary projects with a high-level of autonomy, managing schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Review complex problem statements, generate design specifications, test plans, documentation and reports as required.
  • Design and develop highly complex electrical systems, sub-systems, and/or solutions, applying engineering methods to design.
  • Perform hands-on test and validation utilizing lab equipment to characterize the performance of electrical & electro-mechanical systems.
  • Contributes to research and development efforts for future products by collecting and analyzing data to improve system designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering design teams to design and modify custom and OEM system components.
  • Acts as a resource and mentor for more junior colleagues.

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience; or master’s degree with 6+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience in electronic circuit design (analog, digital), signal and controls theory, development and associated electrical board design, troubleshooting and validation.
  • In depth system level understanding of Electrical architecture, system integration, and applications.
  • Expertise in application of power and controls technologies for systems automation.
  • Knowledgeable in CAD tools for electrical design and simulation (e.g., PCAD, ORCAD, ZUKEN, AutoCAD, Spice).

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and deploying machine vision systems in an industrial or research setting.
  • Strong understanding of image processing techniques and algorithms.
  • Experience in troubleshooting with problem-solving techniques such as 5-why, 8D, fishbones, etc.
  • Ideal candidate will have a background understanding in semiconductor processing
  • Familiar with software test methodologies, Design of Experiments, and a passion for testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems.  Proficient at troubleshooting with common tools: DVM, Oscilloscope, network sniffers, protocol analyzers, etc.
  • Knowledge in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and low voltage circuit design for power and control applications.
