The Group You’ll Be A Part Of

The SEM Lab serves as the eyes for Lam’s process development teams. Our objective is high volume metrology data generation, with rapid turnaround times to facilitate more experimental iterations and a faster time to solution.

What You'll Do

Prepare and image STEM samples using FEI/Thermo Fisher 4xx/Helios Dual beam FIB tools and image using internal SEM/STEM detectors to meet the dynamic needs of process engineers.

 

This is a night shift position on a compressed 12hr/day schedule from 5pm - 5am.

Ideal Qualities

  • Understanding of relevant physics – electromagnetics, kinetics

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a physical science.
  • Experience with sample preparation, instrumentation, and imaging for some of the following techniques: Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM), FIB-SEM cross sectioning, Electron Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS/EDX), sample cleaving and Cross Section SEM (XSEM).
  • Willingness to work a late shift as described above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience operating dual beam FIB/SEM tools for the preparation of lamella for STEM or TEM imaging.
  • Familiarity with AutoTEM or iFast.
  • Knowledge of the physics involved with FIB/SEM tools, such as vacuum systems, voltage/current effects, and ion sputtering behavior. 
  • Familiarity with key developments and materials in the semiconductor industry. 
  • Experience in customer IP protection and sample handling.
