The impact you’ll make

Within Semiverse® Solutions at Lam Research, we build innovative software products to solve semiconductor technology challenges.  Our leading 3D modeling software is revolutionizing the way semiconductor chips are fabricated around the world.  Enabled by our core intellectual property – an accelerated 3D voxel modeling and visualization engine – our software is highly successful and is quickly evolving as our business and customer base expand rapidly.

We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our team.  In this role, you will play a key part in developing and implementing machine learning solutions to derive insights from complex multi-physics simulations as well as experimental data.  You will own the end-to-end development of these solutions, from initial concept and feasibility through the final implementation and deployment.

What you’ll do

  • Analyze and investigate large, complex datasets from diverse sources to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Design, build, and train robust machine learning and deep learning models.
  • Engineer relevant features and conduct rigorous model evaluation, including hyperparameter optimization and model generalization testing.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate models into our production codebase, while championing best practices for code quality and maintainability.
  • Clearly communicate findings and results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for

  • Education: A master’s degree with 3 years of experience or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, related quantitative field.
  • Machine Learning: Solid theoretical knowledge and practical experience in AI algorithms, deep learning, statistics, and optimization.
  • Software Engineering: Strong Python programming skills with a focus on writing efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • ML Frameworks: Proficiency in modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or Tensorflow.

Preferred qualifications

  • Domain knowledge in semiconductor engineering, process engineering, or multi-physics simulations.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
