The impact you’ll make

Drives development and implementation of corporate policy through strategic partnerships with government and industry groups aligning with business objectives. Company’s contact for legislative and public policy matters. Serves as company liaison to and fosters relationships with key members of government and industry groups to promote company interests. Prepares policy briefings, testimony for pending legislative actions and provides thought leadership and recommendations. Ensures appropriate company participation in government forums and industry group meetings. Works with policymakers, leaders of government and industry councils and lobbyists to influence public policy, monitor government initiatives and advocate for specific plans to advance the company’s objectives. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

What you’ll do

Job Summary:
The Director of Government Affairs will interact with local, state, and national legislative bodies and government agencies to represent and protect the company’s business plans and interests. 

In the role, you will work closely with Lam Korea leadership and the Global Government Affairs team to develop a comprehensive government relations strategy to ensure a supportive policy and regulatory environment for Lam’s growth and operations.  Additionally, the Director will:
•    Shape favorable political environment and influence policymaking in support of the company’s business operations in Korea and broader APAC region.
•    Enhance the corporate reputation as a company’s principal in-country advocate and government liaison.
•    Drive policy collaboration with Korean customers and supply chain partners.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
•    Monitor, analyze, and affect government policies, regulations, and legislation that may impact the company
•    Advise and manage external/internal engagement and create strategies to protect, enhance and/or accelerate business strategies in collaboration with the company’s business units.
•    Communicate, engage, and influence a broad range of government stakeholders, regulators, non-governmental organizations, industry associations, academia, key opinion leaders, and communities.
•    Advocate company’s vision and leadership proposition in Korea

Who we’re looking for

  • 15+ years of professional experience
  • Experience or expertise in government bodies, especially MOTIE (산업통상자원부) and the National Assembly (국회), and/or other government relations 
  • Government affairs professionals from multinational companies or major Korean corporations will be preferred
  • Experience working within the political establishment on policy issues (preferably in the technology sector)
  • Fluent in English
  • Analytical and creative approach to policy formulation
  • Proven coalition-building and external representation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Korean and English
  • Familiarity with industry issues in the country/region

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
