The group you’ll be a part of

The Manufacturing Engineering team will be part of Lam Manufacturing Malaysia Operations, reporting into Global Operations. This function will partner with the other Operations team in Malaysia such as Manufacturing, Quality, Order Fulfilment, Logistics to deliver Operations Excellence, driving high quality, productivity and cost-effective performance in the safest environment.

The impact you’ll make

  • As Test Manager, you will lead a team of engineers to develop, implement and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
  • You will work across organization functions to resolve technical, quality and production challenges, as well as opportunity to develop excellence in product design and manufacturing. 
  • Drive the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes and operations for new and existing products.
  • Lead the team on newest software and fixtures development including defining criteria, designs, documents, builds, calibrates, troubleshoots and meet/exceed all safety, quality, cost, efficiency and productivity deliverables. 
  • Ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs.  Drive systems to maintain reports and record keeping of company products. 
  • Lead the team to resolve test issues cross functionally with Suppliers, Supplier Engineering, Pilot Manufacturing, and Design Engineering. 
  • The candidate will be responsible for transitioning test on new products to Manufacturing, resolving any manufacturing floor test issues, improving product quality, and reducing the test cycle time. 
  • The candidate should have good experience at a semiconductor fab, very familiar with capital equipment and its challenges.

What you’ll do

Lead a test engineering organization in a dynamic, multi-product, multi-factory, global company:

  • Develop test strategy/plan
  • Implement governance and reporting processes
  • Implement standard processes, methodologies and tools
  • Ensure that the team follows testing standards, guidelines and testing methodology as specified in the test strategy
  • Perform all management activities -resource management, monitor and control, manage risks and issues, manage quality
  • Responsible for managing all testing effort and deliverables, work with testing team to ensure testing is on time and within budget
  • Test planning activities and estimation, test scope definitions with the use of risk-based testing
  • Drive innovative continuous improvement programs to safety/ergo aspect, improve assembly method & reduce assembly labor hours
  • Provide sustaining excellence strategy in Wafer Fabrication Equipment through lean manufacturing environment

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering and more than 10 years of experience in the following areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for purposes of teaching, investigating and influencing team members and stakeholders up to and including internal and external executives.
  • Knowledge in semiconductor capital equipment.  PCBA and component lifecycle management: Specification, manufacture, assembly, test/inspection and sustaining.
  • Experience in test engineering and development environment with in-depth knowledge of C#, Python or other scripting languages.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical analysis, DOE, GR&R (MSA), 5-Why, 6S/7W, t/F tests, box plot and 8D.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mfg standards (Semi S2, OSHA, ISO 9000/14000, RoHS, UL, IEEE, MIL, IPC 610/620)
  • Working knowledge in developing and maintaining Test Fixturing.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in new product transfer methodologies and program.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with vacuum, pressure control, temperature control, RF and gas delivery systems.
  • Knowledge in SAP systems and applications will be added advantage.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.
  • Experience in forecasting, raise and manage capital, operational expenditure.
  • Willingness to travel in support of global responsibility set (up to 10%, occasional international).
