The group you’ll be a part of

The Senior Dangerous Goods (DG) Specialist position will report to the Global EHS Environmental Director within the Global Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team at  Lam Research.  

What you’ll do

The Sr. Dangerous Goods Specialist  is responsible for ensuring compliance with both international and domestic regulations related to classification and management of dangerous goods (DG) and hazardous materials (hazmat).  

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Leading the development and implementation of global DG and hazmat procedures and standards. 
  • Ensuring consistent application of these standards across all Lam global sites and third-party logistics providers. 
  • Assessing regulatory permitting requirements for the global locations where Lam DGs are shipped, received, imported, exported, and/or stored. 
  • Performing day-to-day classification of DG and hazmat for Lam parts and materials, including both direct and indirect. 
  • Monitoring and evaluating emerging regulations and legislative changes affecting DG and hazmat classification, storage, and transport, and assessing their impact on Lam operations. 
  • Supporting regulatory compliance inspections and audits. 

Additional responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the safe and lawful handling of DG and hazmat in accordance with all applicable regulations. 
  • Assist global sites in managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS), ensuring accurate chemical indexing. 
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to obtain and maintain current SDS documentation. 
  • Provide support to site EHS teams in managing SDS within the central repository system.

  • Operational Efficiency: Streamlining DG classification and documentation processes, reducing delays and errors.
  • Risk Mitigation: Enhancing safety and legal compliance through accurate SDS management and DG tracking.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborating with logistics, R&D, and manufacturing to align workflows and systems.
  • Digital Transformation (DT): Supporting DT initiatives by validating data accuracy, updating workflows, and integrating tools for better traceability and automation. 

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in DG/hazmat compliance, preferably in the semiconductor or high-tech industry.
  • Strong knowledge of international and domestic regulations related to DG and hazmat. 
  • Strong understanding of chemical properties, hazards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and ability to evaluate technical data and reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, influence, and drive results. 
  • Experienced in developing and implementing DG and hazmat procedures and standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and present complex content.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Proven ability to develop root cause analyses and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to compliance. 
  • Must be fluent in English. 

Preferred qualifications

Certified Dangerous Goods and/or Hazardous Materials Specialist  with current or renewable credentials.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
