We’re seeking a dynamic Senior EHS Professional to shape the future of safety at our rapidly evolving, innovation‑driven organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program foundation for a new semiconductor research & development (R&D) facility, from conceptual phase into operational phase and beyond.  Opportunities include participating in the design review of the R&D facility, environmental permit application preparation (air and water emissions, waste management, chemical), chemical management program development, emergency preparedness, and construction safety assurance.  

What you’ll do

Serves as the EHS authority across multi‑disciplinary design reviews for new construction, modernization, and process expansions.  

Performs comprehensive evaluations and works collaboratively with program managers for incorporating safety and environmental protection aspects. Partner with technical leaders to ensure all designs meet—or exceed—global EHS standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices. 

Embed safety into engineering decisions through proactive hazard-risk assessments, PHA/HAZOP participation, and lifecycle safety planning. 

Supports the obtainment of environmental and health-related permit applications related to air emissions, wastewater, chemical storage and management, and waste disposal. 

Leads the creation, enhancement, and implementation of our Chemical Safety Program, including handling, storage, segregation, and disposal protocols. 

Oversees chemical approval processes and risk assessments, ensuring safe integration of new materials and technologies. 

Partners with R&D, operations, and supply chain to build sustainable processes that protect people, assets, and the environment. 

Leads and supports incident investigations, root cause analysis determinations, and the development of preventative and/or corrective actions.  Conducts follow-up verifications on completed actions. 

Provides oversight, governance, and strategic guidance for a large‑scale construction project and contractors. 

Champions a culture of safety in the field through site inspections, readiness reviews, and alignment with Construction Safety Management Plans. 

Assesses equipment commission-readiness for the R&D facility.  

Collaborates with project management, general contractors, and trade partners to drive incident prevention, hazard control, and continuous improvement. 

Who we’re looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. Master’s degree or related work experience preferred. 

Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 5 years and a Master’s degree. 

Senior‑level experience in EHS within manufacturing, semiconductor, R&D, industrial, or high‑hazard environments. 

Expertise in design safety and chemical management programs. 

Working-level knowledge of environmental permitting.  

Understanding of regulatory frameworks (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, IBC/IFC, etc.).  

The ability to think strategically, act decisively, and lead with integrity. 

 

Preferred qualifications

This position is a technical individual contributor role and will interact daily with other EHS and business unit engineers and managers. As such, the position requires: 

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, influence, and drive results. 

Strong analytical skills. Expert understanding of safety processes, hazard identification and environmental permitting.  

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and establish clarity with complex content, in front of peers and leaders. 

Self-motivated and requires little supervision to achieve planned results.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
