Senior Construction Manager

The impact you’ll make

As a Sr. Construction Manager at Lam, with your project management expertise, you’ll plan and oversee facility changes for plant, tool installations, and production equipment layouts. You'll work with architects to develop design criteria, layouts, and prepare contracts. You inspect construction and installation progress to ensure adherence with established specifications and schedules. Your focus on performance specifications required to meet unique operating conditions contributes to the efficiency and compliance of Lam's state of the art facilities.

What you’ll do

Plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations.Leads architecture/engineering firms and company engineers in developing initial project design criteria and layouts and schematic drawings for industrial construction projects.  Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique factory/ research lab operating requirements and building safety codes. Leads engineers, consultants, and company procurement professionals to develop bid documents for construction and facilities acquisition.  Engages with legal to originate construction contract agreements consistent with project scope, value, and company risk profile. Reviews and estimates design and project construction costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, start-up preparation and other related costs. Inspects construction site and attends the contractor led progress meetings to monitory conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Who we’re looking for

• Understands legal concepts and commercial terms and conditions of traditional construction contracting instruments
• Demonstrated construction project cost control experience with responsibility for presenting monthly project status reports and revised capital forecasts to company finance executives 
• Strong safety culture
• Capable of supporting multiple concurrent projects and assignments
• Values internal and cross-functional teamwork to solving problems
• Demonstrated ability working directly with mechanical contractors and service providers to ensure delivery of operational result
• Assertive nature and willingness to support customer needs when challenged
• Thrives in a fast paced, high-energy work environment
• Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and root cause analysis skills
• Minimum of 8 - 10 years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or equivalent

Preferred qualifications

• Recent construction project management experience leading construction projects >25M US
• Experience working with procurement teams to develop qualified bidders lists and leading competitive sourcing for construction projects
• Proficient with construction scheduling software such as Microsoft Projects
• Knowledge of construction means and methods employed in electronics and semiconductor factory projects
• Cleanroom construction project experience

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
