The impact you’ll make
As a Process Engineer at Lam, you will operate on cutting-edge technology, harnessing atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to push technical boundaries. Your role involves developing new and advanced process formulations, defining equipment hardware to meet processing requirements, evaluating test data, and coordinating design requirements to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Your expertise and knowledge play a crucial role our customers success, making an impact on the next generation of semiconductor breakthroughs. In this role, you will directly contribute to leading projects and developing CVD and ALD products at LAM Research at imec.
What you’ll do
• Works with state-of-the-art Lam deposition equipment to develop, optimize or transfer advanced deposition processes of various materials
• Delivers creating solutions, designs and conducts experiments, and interprets results
• Characterize deposited materials and deposition processes with metrology and inspection tools available in imec cleanroom
• Document and communicate plans, status, and results of R&D projects in written reports and presentations, including the analysis and interpretation of data
• Collaborate with technical teams at imec and Lam Deposition Product Group
• Flexible to be cross trained into etch, wet metallization and clean processes and integration
Who we’re looking for
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics or related field with 6+ years of experience; or a PhD with 3+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience in semiconductor industry and thin-film deposition.
Preferred qualifications
• Publication record that demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience with ALD, CVD, and material characterization.
• Knowledge of wet metal deposition process is an additional asset
• Experienced with thin film characterization techniques (XPS, SIMS, RBS, AFM, XRR, XRD, TEM, SEM, and ellipsometry
• Has good knowledge of semiconductor industry, CMOS process integration, semiconductor devices.
• Has basic knowledge of electrical characterization techniques
• In-depth understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)
• Interest in advanced technology and an on-going desire to learn
• Strong aptitude for research/development and ability to build production-worthy technologies
• Capable of working independently and completing projects in a timely manner
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work well in teams
• Well organized
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Fluent English

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
