The Semi Mechatronics Products (SMP) group produces critical mechatronics and Equipment Intelligence® products that support Lam’s advanced semiconductor solutions. Located in Fremont, CA, SMP accelerates new product introductions, drives manufacturing innovation, and supports global production transfers. As part of Global Product Engineering’s Mechatronics group, SMP delivers quality, cost efficiency, and scalable growth through operational excellence.

The impact you’ll make

As Sr. Manager, Materials, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring uninterrupted production and scalable growth for SMP. You will be responsible for aligning supplier management, procurement, and inventory strategy with business demand, while balancing cost, risk, and service levels. Through strong systems discipline, clear accountability, and close cross functional collaboration, you will build a resilient materials organization that enables on time delivery, inventory optimization, and sustained operational performance.

What you’ll do

  • Own end to end materials performance for Semi Mechatronics Products, ensuring material availability supports production requirements while maintaining healthy inventory turns.
  • Lead and develop the Materials organization, including supplier management, procurement, and inventory planning; establish clear expectations, metrics, and accountability for performance.
  • Define, implement, and maintain materials policies, procedures, and control systems that standardize best practices across planning, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Develop and execute material requirements plans using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to support build schedules, new product introductions, and demand volatility.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality, and Finance to align material strategy with production plans, capacity constraints, and cost objectives.
  • Establishes forward looking visibility to material readiness by evaluating and reporting Clear to Build (CTB) status for upcoming work orders, enabling proactive risk mitigation and production alignment.
  • Assess material related risks and constraints, proactively identifying mitigation strategies for supplier capacity, lead times, quality issues, and single source dependencies.
  • Drive supplier strategy and performance management, including sourcing decisions, supplier development, cost improvement, and delivery and quality performance.
  • Work directly with suppliers and Quality to resolve material quality issues, serving as an active member of the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Support the establishment and continuous improvement of production control systems, ensuring visibility to constraints, shortages, and execution gaps.
  • Use data and KPIs to identify performance gaps, drive corrective actions, and continuously improve materials planning, procurement efficiency, and inventory accuracy. 

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 6-8 years of management experience. An advanced degree preferred.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

 

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $137,000.00 -  $287,000.00.

 

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
