The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

 

The impact you’ll make

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be at the heart of customer support. Your role extends beyond installations and troubleshooting; you will help ensure the operational excellence of our highly sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing equipment. In this position, you will directly contribute to the success of our local customer, ESMC, in Dresden.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver high-quality on-site support, including the installation, relocation, and commissioning of complex Lam semiconductor equipment at customer sites.
  • Diagnosing and resolve technical issues through troubleshooting and root cause analysis at the component level to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and Lam products through training, professional development, and certification programs.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and effectively coordinate activities between Lam and customer stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical expert and represent Lam professionally while ensuring exceptional service quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Proactively engage with customers through transparent communication of opportunities and challenges, fostering trust and enabling mutual success.
  • Participate in a comprehensive onboarding and training program provided both on-site and at one of our training centers in the United States, Asia, or Austria, complemented by hands-on training in Asia. Depending on your level of experience, the training period may last up to six months.

Who we’re looking for

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical qualification in Microelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a cleanroom environment while using personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleanroom garments.
  • Physical ability to frequently assume various positions, including bending, stretching, walking, sitting, twisting, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods while performing job duties.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe or Asia based on customer requirements.
  • Flexibility to work across different work schedules, including compressed workweeks, alternative shift models, overtime, and on-call support when required.
  • A valid EU passport or authorization to work in Germany is required.

Preferred qualifications

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with common office software including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Initial experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of semiconductor equipment in Etch, Deposition, Single-Wafer Clean, or Plating applications is an advantage.
  • Excellent English communication skills are required.
  • Basic German language skills or Mandarin language proficiency would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
