The impact you’ll make

As a Software Application Engineer at Lam, you’ll be at the forefront of driving innovation and adoption of our software products.

You’ll support fast product evolution through agile processes by analyzing, designing, programming, testing, debugging, and enhancing software applications. With your expertise and initiative, you’ll turn ideas into great products that support advancements in Lam’s semiconductor technology.

In this role, you will have a significant impact on the innovation and efficiency of Lam's products and services. By developing enterprise grade software applications, you will enable data-driven decision making, optimize workflows, enhance user experience, and improve quality and performance of Lam's hardware and processes.

What you’ll do

  • Develop semiconductor workforce development in Japan, working with University/Accademia developing Semiconductor Engineering curriculum supported by Lam Research’s virtual fabrication platform.
  • Deploy SEMulator3D® software- which is a Lam semiconductor process modeling platform enabling virtual solutions across multiple University/Accademia partners in the Japan.
  • Coordinate engagement, training planning and execution with university professors and teaching assistants for  SEMulator3D® software usage and modeling methodology.
  • Project manage the deployment process at each site, from initial contact to software adoption, through detailed planning and risk analysis
  • Collaborate and work with a global team application engineers (working both with industrial customers and Accademia) to develop new applications and best practices.
  • Some domestic travel may be required

Preferred qualifications

  • Semiconductor technology, integration, and processing education is required; Masters or PhD in a related field, such as electrical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, applied physics
  • In-depth knowledge of process integration for advanced logic technology (<5nm, nanosheet/nanowire/gate-all-around) or memory (3D NAND, DRAM) is preferred
  • Statistical Data analysis skills preferred
  • Relevant employment experience in the semiconductor industry (including co-op or internship) is preferred
  • Must be willing to get hands-on with software-based modeling; familiarity with EDA tools and software programming is preferred
  • This position is a customer-facing role and requires strong communication and presentation skills

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
