The impact you’ll make
The Trade Operations Analyst is responsible for executing day-to-day import/export activities, ensuring compliance with Malaysian Customs regulations, and supporting trade-related data analytics and reporting. The role involves applying for transaction approvals, coordinating with brokerage partners, managing documentation, and providing insights using tools like Power BI. Using a deep knowledge, and understanding of Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) in Malaysia specific, in addition to global trade compliance operations practices and procedures.
What you’ll do
Import/Export Operations
Prepare and submit customs-related applications (K1/K2 declarations etc) for approval via customs platforms.
Coordinate with forwarders and customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
Track and manage inbound/outbound documentation such as invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB, permits, and COO.
Ensure full compliance with LMW (Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse) conditions.
Experience in LMW, import/export and global Trade Compliance in supporting the operational trade and customs activities.
Accurately submit application to respective government agency (primarily RMCD) on trade items by validating the details of the information for duty/tax qualification.
Accurately submit reporting to respective government agency (primarily RMCD) on trade items by validating the details of the information for reporting compliance.
Review and audit of shipment documentations (shipping documents, customs documents etc) to ensure trade compliance in accordance to local and international trade rules and regulations.
Perform audit and evaluate operational conformity to trade and customs rules and regulations, identify area for improvement and discrepancies root cause for ramification.
Report any discrepancies in documents and coordinate with respective carrier/broker for correct the documents
Alignment of LMW requirements with Lam Suppliers in Malaysia and globally
Working with classification, tracking inbound supplies and testing against inventory and LMW reporting.
Coordinate and manage inbound supply and oversight for capital equipment. Manage related LMW traceability and filings
Update LMW parts database and assist with A1, A2, A3 exemption list filings
Assist with export control and licensing, ECCN numbers
Support Customs enquiries, customs rulings and imports under protest
Brokerage Billing & Cost Management
Review and validate brokerage invoices against approved rates and services rendered.
Coordinate with Finance to ensure timely processing and resolution of discrepancies.
Maintain records for audit and financial tracking purposes.
Who we’re looking for
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Ensure adherence to Malaysian Customs and RMCD policies, including permit application, exemption claims, and duty reconciliation.
Support preparation of required reports and audits (e.g., monthly LMW returns, ZB reconciliations).
Monitor expiry of permits/licenses and flag renewal needs proactively.
Data & Analytics
Support management on monthly KPI and adhoc report requests
Develop and maintain dashboards using Power BI for:
Trade performance metrics (shipment lead times, cost per transaction, broker performance)
Customs application turnaround time
Compliance tracking
Driving for continuous improvement projects in day-to-day activities/process.
Process & Systems
Support implementation and maintenance of trade compliance systems/tools.
Assist in documenting SOPs and identifying opportunities to streamline operations.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, International Trade, or related discipline.
2–4 years experience in import/export operations or trade compliance.
Familiarity with Malaysia Customs procedures, LMW framework, and brokerage coordination.
Proficient in using/understanding DagangNet, and SAP systems.
Working knowledge of Power BI and Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data modeling).
Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently.
Good communication and coordination skills to work cross-functionally.
Knowledge of Warehouse receiving and shipping process
Preferred qualifications
Preferred Attributes
Experience in manufacturing or high-volume trade environments.
Understanding of INCOTERMS and international shipping documentation.
Exposure to customs audit preparation or internal controls.
Have experiences on problem solving tools like 5why, PDCA.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
