The group you’ll be a part of
This position is part of the Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) organization. In this position, you, as a Strategic Commodity Manager, play a vital role with the Gas Delivery Component suppliers. You will have the opportunity to architect the commodity strategy and work across organizations on key objectives such as cost reduction, contract negotiation, business continuity plans and supplier development to support capacity and scalability needs.
The impact you’ll make
At Lam, as a Strategic Commodity Manager, you play a crucial role in managing industry suppliers. You’ll develop and implement commodity strategies, align development deliverables, benchmark suppliers, negotiate agreements, and resolve delivery, cost, and production challenges. Navigating a highly visible and dynamic environment, your strategic expertise in implementing initiatives will support commodity availability, quality, and cost to maintain Lam's reliability and competitive edge.
What you’ll do
Primary Functions and Performance Objectives
- Defines metrics and monitor supplier performance against expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement and sustainability. Regularly evaluate performance benchmarks, and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection
- Continuously working on process improvement to deploy & develop best known methods related to procurement, inventory control (e.g., JIT, Kanban, min/max) & manufacturing strategies
- Drive the improvement of the suppliers’ manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, cost, and on-time-delivery
- Collaborate on the continuous development of supply base through close teamwork with product management, global product group, and supplier engineers
- Encourages and coordinates early supplier involvement in new products parts design using the suppliers’ expertise to optimize quality and manufacturability
- Knowledge of supply chain management business processes and proper governance controls for factory management

This individual should also possess the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, to adapt to changing priorities and to work independently in a close-knit team setting.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree with accredited University
- Creative thinking and strong problem solving capabilities
- Solid analytical and written/oral communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization including Executives
- Solid understanding of manufacturing operations and processes
- Basic understanding of finance and analytical skills to work with numbers
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance
- International & domestic travelling
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Preferred qualifications
- Project Management / Team Lead experience
- At least 7 years of working in the Semiconductor Equipment Industry
- Experience with working with global suppliers
- Advanced degree (MBA) from accredited University

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
