The Manufacturing Engineering team will be part of Global Operations. This funtion will partner with the Operations team in Malaysia to deliver Operations Excellence, driving high quality, productivity and cost effective performance in the safest environment.
The impact you’ll make
The Manufacturing Engineering Director will be responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Operations at Lam Manufacturing Malaysia, reporting to Operations Director/ Senior. Mainly responsible for Assembly & Test Engineering of Wafer Fabrication Equipment(WFE), Industrial Engineering, Fixture Design and Work Instructions Software Engineering
Oversees the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes and operations for new and existing products. Ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs. Develops systems to maintain reports and record keeping of company products. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
What you’ll do
- Create mission and vision to achieve Operation Excellence
- Manage a team of Engineering Managers/Engineers to provide assembly/test engineeringsupport for manufacturing, including creating and maintaining sets of Working Instructions inCellfusion system, understanding mechanical drawings, manage material quality excursionsand troubleshoot assembly issues that arise
- The test engineering scopes require understanding of product testing through in-house andalso python-based test program, troubleshooting test components failure, improving test yieldand drive test hours improvement
- Other Manufacturing Engineering scopes include Industrial Engineering design of the factorylayout and capacity planning, development and continuity of product knowledge, execution ofengineering change over the product lifecycle within manufacturing, the creation andmaintenance of work instructions and implementation of new products received intomanufacturing
- The Manufacturing Engineering Director’s mission is to enable Lam’s ManufacturingMalaysia’s operational design and flow to maximize throughput with quality and to minimize cost.
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree, Masters (MBA, masters’ in Engineering discipline), with 10+ years in relevant operational disciplines, with cross-functional MNC environment experience preferred
- Experience building a new team and leading through a period of significant growth is preferred
- Experience in manufacturing operations in electronics, aerospace, health care or other similarindustry is preferred
- Able to identify opportunities for value-creating/positive change, can craft a vision andarchitect a change strategy in collaboration with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to set and manage accountabilities and expectations at all levels, acts quickly toresolve conflicts
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and work across time zones especially with other Lamfactories in the US, Korea, Taiwan and Austria
- Fluency in English and local languages is a significant advantage
- Demonstrated leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion
Preferred qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of engineering in a manufacturing environment is required Lean /Six Sigma certification preferred with demonstrated competence in structured problem solving
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must, excellent leadership presenceStrong business acumen and ability to speak with data
- Strong relationship skills.
- The ideal candidate is approachable and adaptable and shows akeen ability to connect with all levels of the organization and with global colleagues
- Knowledge in SAP is essential
- Candidate should also possess strong Mechanical Engineering understanding, VacuumIntegrity knowledge and basic electrical component understanding

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
