Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up a global center in Bangalore to expand its reach for Indian talent pool. Over the decade, this center expanded its capability and scope beyond engineering to global manufacturing, supply chain operations and other shared services. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). In Hardware group, Mechanical Engineers, Simulation Analysts, Electrical Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Engineering support functions work collaboratively to design, develop sub-assemblies and sub-systems for Lam’s next-generation products. LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam’s global engineering footprint.
There is an opening for the role of Technical Lead VR Instructor. This position is based out of Bangalore, directly reporting to the leader of Engineering Lab of LIGHT. This individual shall collaborate with Engineers across India, Korea, Taiwan, Europe and United States.
The impact you’ll make
As a Lead VR Instructor at Lam Research, you will lead the transformation of technical training through immersive learning experiences. Leveraging advanced Virtual Reality (VR) platforms, you will design, develop, and deliver interactive modules that replicate real-world Lam Research equipment scenarios. Your work will enable safe, scalable, and cost-effective training for internal teams, accelerating skill development and ensuring global standardization. Collaborating with cross-functional engineering and operations teams, you will integrate VR content with learning systems, driving innovation and operational excellence across the Lam India Global Hardware Technologies (LIGHT) Operations Group.
What you’ll do
Design & Development
- Create immersive VR training content aligned with Lam’s semiconductor equipment protocols.
- Collaborate with SMEs, Product Group Engineers, and Lab Service Engineers to convert technical documentation into VR modules.
- Ensure VR content reflects current product features and operational procedures.
Training Delivery
- Conduct VR-based training sessions for Lam employees.
- Facilitate in-person classroom sessions, integrating VR simulations with traditional instruction.
- Monitor learner engagement and adapt delivery methods to optimize learning outcomes.
Program Management
- Maintain and update VR training modules based on product revisions and feedback.
- Track training effectiveness using metrics such as learner performance, feedback, and post-training assessments.
Innovation & Collaboration
- Stay abreast of emerging VR technologies and recommend enhancements to training platforms.
- Partner with global training teams to ensure consistency and scalability of VR content.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives to integrate VR into broader learning strategies.
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 7–8 years of experience in technical training, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering VR/AR training content.
- Familiarity with VR development tools (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender).
- Strong understanding of Semiconductor process equipment (Etch, Deposition, WETS, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Certifications in VR development.
- Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
