THE GROUP YOU’LL BE PART OF:

The Lam Corporate Tax Department is responsible for management and oversight of global regulatory and compliance tax matters for the Company, together with monitoring / identifying key tax developments and opportunities, and partnering with business teams across the Company and developing global tax frameworks to support business initiatives.

 

OVERVIEW:

The Tax Director will support the Lam Corporate Tax Department, advising on complex tax and legal considerations related to cross-border transactions and business initiatives involving Asia, the United States, and Europe, while also providing strategic tax support and execution oversight for the Company’s operations in India.

The role will focus on tax planning, global and regional project execution, complex transactions, and risk management, while working in close coordination with local Finance teams that retain responsibility for statutory reporting and compliance execution, and partnering with local business teams.

The Tax Director will act as a strategic advisor and execution lead for the Lam Corporate Tax Department and its partners in Finance, Legal, Operations, Treasury, and Corporate Development on complex tax and business initiatives.  The role will also work closely with Legal on transaction structuring, intercompany arrangements, and other tax-related legal matters.

The position will report directly to the Managing Director, Tax Counsel, and will operate as a Lam Corporate Tax Department representative in the region, ensuring alignment with Lam’s centralized global tax governance model while partnering closely with regional Finance leadership.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties and responsibilities of the Tax Director position include:

  • Provide technical oversight and strategic guidance on India tax compliance, transfer pricing, and audit matters, in coordination with local Finance teams
  • Provide oversight and strategic support on complex tax audits and controversy matters, including development of technical positions and coordination with external advisors, in coordination with local Finance teams
  • Monitor India and global legislative tax developments and implement mitigation strategies to address significant impacts to the Company
  • Provide tax and execution support for cross-border, regional, and global business initiatives, including structuring, implementation, and project management support
  • Partner closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, Treasury, and Corporate Development teams to align tax strategy with business operations and ensure effective execution across regions
  • Lead or support the review and drafting of intercompany agreements, transfer pricing documentation, and transaction-related tax documentation, ensuring alignment with Lam’s global tax and legal framework
  • Perform tax and legal research and develop technical analyses and written advice (including memoranda) on complex domestic and international tax matters
  • Identify, assess, and support mitigation of significant tax risks in India and the region, including documentation of tax positions for audit, controversy, and reporting purposes
  • Work in close coordination with local Finance teams, which retain primary responsibility for statutory compliance and filings

In addition, the Tax Director will work autonomously on daily tasks and receive general instructions on new assignments.

 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum ~10-15 years of relevant tax experience, including experience operating at a senior manager / director level in a multinational environment
  • Experience working with or managing cross‑border transactions, tax audits, and complex legal‑tax issues in a multinational environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or the equivalent
  • Master’s degree and/or a Chartered Accountant
  • Law degree / licensed attorney strongly preferred, with experience in international tax, cross-border transactions, and/or tax controversy
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and tax accounting principles
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulatory rules in India
  • Strong knowledge of transfer pricing rules
  • Solid knowledge of international tax laws and cross-border taxation
  • Solid knowledge of US taxation preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills in English – both oral and written
  • Strong proficiency in tax research and tax research tools
  • Experience with drafting or reviewing intercompany agreements, transaction documents, or other tax-related legal documentation
  • Ability to engage with and manage outside tax and legal advisors
  • Ability to manage and lead projects across business teams
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Must have strong ethics and values and have the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must have strong computer skills or must be able to learn new software quickly
  • Experience with SAP system is a plus
