The impact you’ll make

As a Software Application Engineer at Lam, you’ll be at the forefront of driving innovation and adoption of our software products. You’ll support fast product evolution through agile processes by analyzing, designing, programming, testing, debugging, and enhancing software applications. With your expertise and initiative, you’ll turn ideas into great products that support advancements in Lam’s semiconductor technology.

In this role, you will have a significant impact on the innovation and efficiency of Lam's products and services. By developing enterprise grade software applications, you will enable data-driven decision making, optimize workflows, enhance user experience, and improve quality and performance of Lam's hardware and processes.

What you’ll do

    • Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable Python code to support web services and software applications.  
    • Use frameworks like Fast API to build server-side web application logic and integrate user-facing elements.  
    • Debug Python code, optimize performance, and troubleshoot issues across the application lifecycle.  
    • Utilize Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn to support data science projects and machine learning.  
    • Work with front-end developers, data scientists, and DevOps engineers to deliver cohesive solutions.  
    • Documenting code and technical specifications.  
    • Developing a middle tier of database systems (SQL and NoSQL)  

Who we’re looking for

    • BE or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline.  
    • 5-8 years of relevant engineering experience.  
    • Excellent Python programming skills. 
    • Hands‑on experience on building scalable RESTful services using FastAPI
    • Strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms, and the ability to apply them to solve programming challenges. 
    • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Software (OOS), Object Oriented Design (OOD), or Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) implementation and design, including Design Patterns.  
    • Hands‑on Vibe Coding experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. 
  • Experience in RabbitMQ for message brokering.  
  • Experience with container technologies like Docker   
  • Experience working in distributed & high volume back-end systems.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
