Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading-edge-semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam’s global engineering footprint.

 

There is an opening for the role of Project Engineer within Customer Support Business Group (CSBG) of LIGHT organization. This position will be based out of Bangalore and will closely be working with the Engineering & Cross functional teams across global regions of Lam Research like US & India. CSBG mainly focuses on delivering value to customers throughout the product lifecycle by providing Spares, Upgrades, and services to maximize the value of customer capital assets.

 

This high energy individual will collaborate with global stakeholders and different product groups to manage all aspects of support for Productivity and Technology Upgrades to our global customers through Non-Standard requests, for our Etch / Deposition product lines. Meet Corporate metrics and goals set to achieve excellence and deliver fast solutions to our global Customer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Project manage customer special requests - Non-Standard Requests (NSRs) based on requirements defined by Sales and Engineering to meet the customer’s requirements in semiconductor capital equipment manufacturing. 
  • Review and translate customer requirements into engineering specifications including component impact analysis.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and software engineering efforts to meet the production requirements of customer specific systems.
  • Drive clarity in initial customer request. Confirm that Engineering has sufficient information to develop scope, quote and design.
  • Reduce NSRs by interacting with PMs, Engineering, and NSR Team to cancel redundant design activities
  • Confirm Customer Request Date (CRD) are sufficiently in the future. If dates are inside Lead Time, understand and validate justification. Expedite, manage expectations/communicate risks with Sales Ops, or Reject the request

Mandatory skills

  • Exposure to product structuring and configuration management
  • Experience with Hardware Configuration/Product Management
  • Experience with MRP system planning, ordering, and scheduling materials, preferably using SAP, preferred
  • Excellent Problem-solving skills with emphasis on prevention
  • Knowledge of Bill of Material structures and Engineering Change process
  • Excellent Presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to successfully interact with and coordinate across diverse parts of the organization, technical and non-technical

Preferred qualifications

Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Production with minimum 5 years of relevant experience,

(or)

Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 3 years of relevant experience,

semiconductor industry preferred

Desirable Skill:

  • Experience in semiconductor capital equipment industry will be preferred
  • Knowledge of Quick base development is an added advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exposure to any CAD tool and PDM / PLM systems
