Modeling Technical Lead Engineer
Bangalore, IN-Bangalore, IN
The impact you’ll make
As a leading global supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services to the semiconductor industry, Lam Research develops innovative solutions that help our customers build smaller, faster, and more power-efficient devices. We create equipment that allows chipmakers to build device features more than 1,000 times smaller than a grain of sand. This tiny scale has a huge impact. Virtually every leading-edge chip inside the electronic products you use every day (TVs, smartphones, laptops, cars—even medical devices) has been made using our equipment.
We are a company comprised of people who work hard, deliver outstanding results, and maintain a sense of humor during even the most challenging times. Our success results from our employees' diverse technical and business expertise, which fuels close collaboration and ongoing innovation. We know that our dynamic, global team of exceptional employees is essential to our continued growth.
As one of the world’s most trusted suppliers in the semiconductor equipment industry, we’re transforming technology. Our equipment places atoms so precisely that nearly every chip today is made using our innovations. Such cutting-edge innovations require the need to develop physics-based models appropriately capturing the phenomena relevant at nanometer and atomistic scales.
Join the Lam Research team, where you can walk the path historically driven by Moore’s law and play a vital role in the future of electronics to write your own success story.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position will be based out of Bangalore in LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Team) modelling group closely working with Local and Global Product Groups. This individual would be responsible for simulating complex multi physics problems to aid product or process development by working closely with engineering teams in the US, Europe and Asia region. We are looking for a talented self-motivated individual who will have following primary job responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and build atomistic or phenomenological models to study transport of multispecies gas and/or liquid media in confined channels
- Wherever applicable, implement the chemical reaction kinetics along with transport to simulate etch, dep or clean processes relevant for semiconductor industry
- Wherever applicable, collaborate with other modelling engineers working on continuum-based methods for seamless transfer of boundary conditions to atomistic models
- Collaborate effectively with engineers from various Business Units to translate their problem statements into a modelling scope followed by execution and efficient delivery of results
- Report out the outcomes of modelling studies in the form of a document to Product Development teams
- Establish new modelling protocols and publish them as Best Known Methods
Mandatory Skills required to perform the job
- Strong expertise in molecular modeling, specifically molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo based approaches
- Strong hold on languages (for e.g. python) for post-processing of results involving large data sets
- Knowledge of developing new or implementing existing ML-based forcefields to account for new interatomic interactions and chemistries (using reactive force fields)
- Knowledge of AI/ML based approaches to accelerate MD simulations for probing larger length and time scales
- Engineering judgment and creativity to solve complex problems with right trade-off between accuracy and time-to-delivery.
- Good communication and documentation skills for effective project delivery with global teams
- High learning agility to quickly pick up product knowledge, domain knowledge and software tool expertise to model high fidelity multi physics complex models
- Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with local and global stakeholders to be successful in a matrix organization
