The impact you’ll make

As a Buyer, you will ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of packaging materials by managing supplier performance, executing sourcing strategies, and mitigating supply risks. Through data-driven decision-making and close collaboration with suppliers and internal teams, you will drive continuous improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and operational efficiency to support Lam's business objectives.

What you’ll do

• This position is part of Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) and is responsible for executing procurement, sourcing, and supplier management activities for the Packaging Commodity.
• Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in SAP/ERP systems.
• Execute sourcing and procurement activities for packaging commodities.
• Manage supplier performance through scorecards and other relevant parameters.
• Ensure on-time material delivery, monitor near-term supplier capacity to support production goals, and implement effective inventory management strategies.
• Manage supplier escalations and resolve supply chain issues.
• Analyze spend data and identify sourcing opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, planning, finance, and logistics teams.
• Conduct weekly meetings with global packaging suppliers to review inventory levels and ensure smooth operations.
• Support material availability escalations and coordinate with suppliers to prevent production line downtime.
• Address quality escalations by ensuring compliance with standards and processes for parts and suppliers.
• Drive improvements in suppliers’ manufacturing processes to enhance product quality and ensure on-time delivery.
• Maintain awareness of business continuity plans and risk management programs.
• Understand cost reduction initiatives and sourcing strategies.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field with 2+ years of experience; or equivalent experience.
• Basic knowledge of packaging materials, including wood packaging, cleanroom packing and related consumables.
• Expertise in SAP/ERP systems and procurement processes.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, Power Point and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Mandatory Skills & Requirement:

• Strong analytical and written/oral communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate effectively at all organizational levels, including executives.
• Proven experience with SAP, essential for sourcing, planning, and supply chain management.
• Advanced data analysis and presentation skills, with expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of statistical process control and basic statistical analysis applied in production environments.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a professional level of emotional intelligence to achieve desired objectives and deliverables.
• Demonstrated success in analytical and problem-solving, with a history of resolving complex issues in global supply chain operations.
• Flexibility to work across time zones, ensuring effective management of global suppliers and stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in the semiconductor industry or other high-tech industries.
• Foundational understanding of commodity market indicators and technical data.
• Excellent negotiation skills to achieve best value pricing.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
